AFQY | A Few Quiet Yarns

Beta · AFQY Tech Leaders

NZ CIO & CISO Benchmark

A Few Quiet Yarns started with one belief: the best advice a technology leader can get comes from a peer who has already been there. Someone who made the call you are about to make, lived with how it turned out, and will tell you straight over a quiet coffee.

The Benchmark gives that yarn some structure. Whatever you are facing, from an AI pilot that will not scale to a vendor who promised the earth, someone in this community has faced it before you. The Benchmark gathers what they did, what they achieved, and what they learned, and puts it where you can draw on it. The more of us who answer, the more every one of us has to draw on.

How it works

  1. Part 1 of 4 · about 21 minutes

Who you are, what you run and who you trust

Your organisation, how technology is led, your priorities, which vendor behaviours earn or lose your trust, and how your most strategic vendor measures up.

  2. Part 2 of 4 · about 19 minutes

People, cloud, AI and how vendors reach you

Team size and skills, cloud and repatriation, AI pilots and barriers, and which approaches make you more or less likely to engage.

  3. Part 3 of 4 · about 17 minutes

Budgets, platforms, delivery and who decides

Budget bands and run versus change, the platforms you run, how delivery performs, and who sits around the table when a decision is made.

  4. Part 4 of 4 · about 17 minutes

The rest of the picture and the road ahead

Regions, outlook, what you expect to insource and outsource, and the questions you wish surveys asked.

One part a week, every answer saved as you go, and you can change any answer during the year. Finish a part and you see what your peers said on every question in it. CIOs who also carry the security remit get a short security module as well. What stays private, and how, is spelled out on the first screen once you sign in.
