Kēhua exists to end one of the quiet cruelties of working life: applying for a job and hearing nothing back. It gives candidates one place to track every application and know exactly where they stand, and gives employers visibility of where their hiring process goes silent.
Their mission is better follow-through, for everyone, built on a simple standard: every candidate deserves an answer. Transparency, accountability and empathy, wired into the hiring process itself.
Why it's dear to us
Anyone who has done our careers work knows the toll job hunting takes on people. Being ghosted mid-search chips away at confidence exactly when people need it most. Kēhua is fixing that at the source, and that makes it family.

The person behind Kēhua
PJ is an Auckland tech professional with deep roots in cloud, digital delivery and client work. He has seen hiring from both sides of the ledger, and instead of accepting the silence as normal, he set out to build the thing that makes follow-through visible.

Tech Beyond Gender is a New Zealand non-profit tackling three gaps that hold people back in tech: the confidence gap, the opportunity gap and the visibility gap. It works at every level, supporting individuals, influencing workplaces and inspiring communities.
That takes many forms: mentoring with experienced leaders, one-on-one coaching, workplace research including independent studies of what women and gender-diverse professionals face in NZ tech, and the Tech Beyond Gender Talks podcast sharing the journeys of people who have walked the path.
Why it's dear to us
Everything AFQY does comes back to enabling individuals, and Tech Beyond Gender does exactly that for people the industry has made it hardest for. Research, mentoring and storytelling that turn talent into thriving careers. That is our kind of mahi.

Meena is an Auckland solution architect who started out in education, helping mature students return to study, and saw first-hand how confidence and opportunity transform lives. As a migrant building her own career in New Zealand, she lived the challenge of finding networks and belonging. Tech Beyond Gender is her answer: research, mentoring and conversations that help people realise their potential.
