AFQY | A Few Quiet Yarns

Terms & Community Rules

Terms of Use

These are the rules of the A Few Quiet Yarns community, run by A Few Quiet Yarns Ltd ("AFQY", "we", "us"). They're short and human on purpose. By joining and using the platform, you agree to keep to them.

Welcome, and the golden rule

AFQY is a place for good yarns, real relationships and genuine help. The golden rule is simple:no selling. This is a no-pitch space. Come to share, to learn, to connect and to give a hand, not to sell to people. Members can smell a sales pitch a mile off, and it's the one thing that breaks the trust the community runs on.

Who can join

Membership is by approval. To take part you need to be an approved member, and you need tobe who you say you are: real name, real role, real company. No fake profiles, no pretending to be someone else.

How to behave

Be generous, be real, and respect the people around you. Treat others the way you'd want to be treated at a good gathering. To keep it clear, here's what's not on:

  • No harassment, threats, bullying or abuse, of anyone, at any time.
  • No sharing other people's private information, and never share intimate images of someone.
  • No false or misleading content designed to deceive people.
  • No illegal content, and nothing that encourages others to break the law.

These reflect, in plain English, the kind of conduct New Zealand's Harmful Digital Communications Act is there to prevent. If in doubt, err on the side of kindness.

The Red Card

If you see behaviour that crosses the line, you can show it a Red Card. A Red Card is aconfidential report to AFQY. It's private: the person being reported is not told who reported them, so you can raise a concern without worrying about awkwardness. We look at every Red Card and decide what's fair. Outcomes can range from removing content, to a quiet word with the person, to suspending their account.

Photos and the gallery

Only upload photos you actually have the right to share, and only photos of people who'd be happy to appear in them. If you're not sure someone would want their picture up, ask them first, or leave it out.

Moderation and takedown

To keep the community healthy, AFQY may remove any content or suspend any account that breaks these rules. If something's not right, or you have a concern about content or behaviour, please tell us atryanthelion@afewquietyarns.co.nzand we'll look into it.

Your content stays yours

You own what you create and post. By posting it here, you give AFQY permission to display and share it within the community so that other members can see and enjoy it. That permission is just what we need to run the platform. We're not claiming ownership of your work.

No warranty and limitation

We do our best to keep the community running well, but the platform is provided "as is" and we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, AFQY isn't liable for any loss arising from your use of the platform or from things other members do or post. These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have jurisdiction. Nothing here limits any rights you have that can't be excluded under New Zealand law.
